All versions of the 2017 RS 7 use a 4.0-liter V8 with 560 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This engine is equipped for all-wheel drive and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine also comes with both a self-locking center differential and a sport rear differential, combining control and safety with high-performance stability. In tests, the RS 7 went from 0-60 miles per hour in an unbelievable 3.4 seconds, and the fuel economy is almost as surprising at 16 city and 27 highway miles per gallon.

Performance

The RS 7 is unquestionably performance-oriented, with enough power and control to outpace most sports cars. At the same time, the RS 7 stays composed and firm enough for calm family trips. Even relatively inexperienced or concerned drivers can get accustomed to its extreme power. Standard features include an adaptive sport air suspension, variable ratio steering, and Audi Drive Select which lets drivers adjust the exhaust, transmission, suspension, and steering.

Interior

The RS 7 has four seats, with two separately in the front and back, and has 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Audi's MMI infotainment system uses a console-mounted controller, but can also stream the controls to a touchpad. The Bose audio system comes with a CD player, satellite radio, HD radio, and USB port, while Audi Connect provides Wi-Fi hotspot potential and web-based navigation and information.

Safety Features

Standard safety technology on the 2017 RS 7 includes front and rear parking sensors, collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, a rearview camera, and more. Drivers who opt for the Driver Assistance Plus package will get adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure warnings with lane assist, front and rear corner view parking cameras, and upgraded collision mitigation with automatic braking.
