The 2017 GMC Acadia has six trim levels: the SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali. All trims above the SL can be equipped with all-wheel drive. The -2 variants of the SLE and SLT further improve upon their previous versions by adding more options. For instance, both the SLE-1 and SLE-2 add daytime LED running lights, but the SLE-2 can choose to hold seven or eight passengers.

The Acadia's sculpting makes it one of the smoothest and most modern vehicles in the 2017 lineup. It's also 700 pounds lighter than last year, despite many added features. The body rides about three inches lower and is three inches narrower. The brand new wraparound headlights look great from all angles, and the wraparound rear window lets drivers in the back enjoy scenic drives just as well as those up front. LED tail lamps are standard, and depending on the trim level, the 2017 Acadia can use 17-inch, 18-inch, or 20-inch wheels.

Engine (Power)
GMC added a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to the 2017 Acadia, which is a perfect choice for fuel-conscious drivers. The four-cylinder gets 194 horsepower, 190 pound-feet of torque, and up to 22/28 city/highway miles per gallon in front-wheel drive. The optional and more powerful 3.6-liter V6 is also new and gets 310 horsepower, 271 pound-feet of torque, and up to 17/25 city/highway mpg.
Performance
Considering the new engine options, the Acadia is a true contender in the mid-size SUV market. The four-cylinder engine's balance of horsepower and torque is something more often seen on performance-based engines, and the V6 is surprisingly thrifty on fuel. An available traction select system adjusts the performance to handle snow, sporty driving, towing, and more.
Interior
The 2017 Acadia uses GMC's innovative keyless open and start system, a lifesaver when you're in a hurry. This technology automatically locks the car a few seconds after the last door is close, lets the driver access any of the four doors when it senses the key fob, and includes push-button ignition. One of the best improvements from 2016 to 2017 is the Acadia's larger cargo area, now at 12.8 cubic feet. With the rear seat rows down, the total cargo space has increased from 70 cubic feet to 79.
Safety Features
The new body style uses high-strength steel in the right places, and though testing is still in progress, it should likely earn a five-star rating from the NHTSA, as it did in 2016. Advanced security features available on higher trims include low-speed automatic braking and a surround-view camera system. These features are both new options that make the Acadia just as safe on the highway as it is on the driveway.
