There are six primary trim levels for the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee: the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and SRT, which stands for street and racing technology. There are also sub-trims or special editions like the Laredo E, 75th Anniversary Edition, and Limited 75th Anniversary Edition. Between all of these trim levels, the Cherokee has many personalities, but the base Laredo will not disappoint the average parents or carpool commuters. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.

The 2017 Grand Cherokee received some slight exterior adjustments, mainly that the headlights and front fascia look a bit more forward and confident. Like in 2016, the Grand Cherokee is imposing and noticeable from the front, while sleek and attractive from the side. Base Laredo models come with 17-inch aluminum wheels, while models above the Laredo have bigger wheels and an optional MOPAR Chrome exterior package.

Engine (Power)
There are three engines for the 2017 Grand Cherokee. The standard is a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Of the two optional engines, one is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 with 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The other is a 5.6-liter V8 with 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, a balance that leaves no weaknesses.
Performance
Gradual improvements and redesigns over the years have made the Grand Cherokee right at home in the city or around the neighborhood without compromising on off-road capability. The Grand Cherokee offers three different all-wheel drive modes for those who want more secure driving and stability on rugged terrain. An eight-speed 850RE automatic transmission is standard among all models.
Interior

The Grand Cherokee's cabin is neat and well-made, offering quite a bit more space to lounge about than the compact Cherokee. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a Uconnect 5.0 infotainment system, and dual-zone automatic climate control are all included on the base Laredo. Higher trims can get or already include Uconnect 8.4 with navigation, plus Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, a dual-screen rear seat DVD and Blu-Ray entertainment system, and much more.

Drivers who want advanced technology without paying much more will adore the Laredo E, a model that lets drivers choose from many technology and convenience packages. These can add a universal garage door opener and home security linkage, a power liftgate, remote starting, and driving modes made to capitalize on fuel economy or escape from thick mud.

Safety Features
All 2017 Grand Cherokee models come with current safety features like four-wheel anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and advanced two-stage air bags throughout the cabin. A ParkView rear backup camera is standard on all models as well.
