The Pathfinder has a newly designed hood, headlights, and grille. It also has a new look for the taillights and a new shape for the rear bumper. It comes in four different trim levels starting with the base level S. This has 18-inch alloy wheels and rear privacy glass. You'll also get roof rails and LED running lights with the base. Bump up to the SV for automatic headlights and fog lights, and then with the SL you'll get a power lift gate and the Cold package options as standard features. The top level Platinum adds 20-inch wheels and more tech features.
Engine
All the models come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This will produce 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, and it is paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive as standard features. You can opt for an all-wheel drive system that comes with four-wheel lock and hill-descent control.
Performance
This is estimated to get 23 miles per gallon (mpg) combined with 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway with the front wheel drive. The all-wheel drive option lowers this by just a few miles. When it is equipped, the Pathfinder can tow up to 6,000 pounds. The 2017 model has noticeably more power than the 2016, and this shows in the tests that predict it can go from zero to 60 in around seven seconds or less. Nissan also made improvements to the CVT which is more responsive and offers seamless shifting both up and down through the gears.
Interior
The inside of the Pathfinder is attractive with high-quality materials. The touchscreen infotainment center is 8.0 inches and offers new features for 2017 including new functionality and better responsiveness with swiping capabilities. The audio and climate controls are still controlled by buttons and knobs making them easier to use. All the models have a third-row seat, and there are 47.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind it. Lay down the second and third row for 79.8 cubic feet of space. The second-row seat even slides forward to make it fairly easy to get to the third row.
Safety
Some of the standard safety features on all the trims include a rearview camera and antilock brakes. There are front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. There is an option for blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert on the SV, while this is standard on the SL and the Platinum. The Platinum also has forward collision alert with emergency braking as a standard safety feature although it is the only trim to offer this.
