2018 Buick Regal
The new 2018 Buick Regal includes a long list of features that turn this vehicle into what can be described as classic. The combination of luxury, sport, and bold styling sets it apart with a distinguished look and feel, but it still performs well. With a smooth ride, powerful engine, and the spacious and luxurious interior that is combined with the reputation for German engineering, the 2018 Buick Regal lives up to its name.
Trim Levels
Choose from three body styles that can be further customized with seven available trim levels. The Sportback is really a sedan that is styled like a coupe, featuring dual exhaust chrome tailpipes, flowing chrome accents and smooth sculptures in what can be known as sporty elegance. The GS or Grand Sport looks equally impressive but is designed for the track enthusiasts. Featuring front air scoops accented in brushed satin, an intimidating rear spoiler, and distinctive lower rocker panels, it is the kind of design that is difficult to ignore. Models are available with either the Essence or the Preferred I or Preferred II trim configurations, which are available with either four-wheel or front-wheel drive.
Engine
The 2018 Buick Regal is available with two engine options. Front-wheel drives are paired with a 2.0-liter turbo-four that expels 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, or 295 lb-ft when the dispersion is to all four wheels. The GS is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 that pushes 310 horses and 282 lb-ft torque power. The standard transmission is an ultra-smooth nine-speed unit which defers to an eight-speed in the all-wheel drive vehicles.
Performance
If fuel economy is a concern, the better choice would be Regal Sportback with FWD. This rates a 22 mpg in the city and a 32 mpg on the highways. Compromising for other performance-features would lead to the Regal GTourX Wagon or GS model where consumption drops to 19 and 27 mpg in city and highway respectively. The Regal has a sturdy and smooth ride without feeling too stiff, and the steering feels seamless without being overly responsive. The front MacPherson struts and five-link rear suspensions absorb much of the road surface impacts, and with the standard Stability track control, there is more than enough power for enjoyable daily driving experiences.
Interior Comfort
Slip into the interior cabin, and a feeling of comfort is experienced thanks to a few standard features such as the air filtration and humidity sensors with dual-zone automatic temperature controls. More assurance comes from the heated front seats and steering wheel with ambient interior lighting that allows better use of the driver and passenger vanity mirrors. There are vehicle-specific features and options available to enhance the vehicle of choice. The GS includes leather-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel, and leather-appointed power boosted front seats with massage control, while the Essence includes 2-way adjustable seats and headrests.
Safety features
The German manufactured Buick Regal has plenty of easy to use and intuitive safety features. Its Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert are standard features on some models, as are the LED daytime running lamps. Drivers can adopt better driving habits with the use or rear cameras and parking assists.
