2018 GMC Terrain
The 2018 compact Terrain crossover SUV from GMC handles itself well against competition from the likes of the Toyota RAV4, the Ford Escape, and Mazda CX-5, and there are a few characteristics that make it stand out.

Compare to 2017 Terrain
Trim Levels
Eleven available trims mean that there is a vehicle to satisfy a wide variety of owners or operators. The trims are all expanded from combinations of the SLE, SLT, and Denali models. The SLE and SLT models are also available with diesel engines with either all-wheel or front-wheel drives. The advanced features of the SLT model include exterior heated auto-dimming, power adjusted body colored turn indicators, a hands-free programmable liftgate, and fog-lights. The Denali is recognized by its 19-inch Ultra Bright aluminum wheels.
Engine
The SLE is powered by a 1.5 liter turbo engine that offers 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. It is 4-cylinder DHC design with Variable Valve Timing and Direct Injection. The SLTs and Denali are a bit bigger 2.0 liter turbo that offers 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. They are both paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission featuring the stop/start engine control system, while the SLE and SLT diesel feature a 137-hp, 1.6-liter I-4 (diesel).
Performance
The 2018 GMC Terrain handles exceptionally well with the turbo 4 engines and 9-speed automatic transmission. Ride quality and acceleration can be described as delightful with poise. At lower speeds, the 1.5-liter engine is relatively quiet while it pushes the 3500-pound weight with some authority. The same 9-speed transmission, when paired with the bigger turbo-4 may be capable of 0-60 mph in the mid-7-second range and feels especially strong when cornering through some rough or tight turns. Fuel economy is rated at 9.6 liter/ 100 km in the city and 8.3 liter/100 km of highway driving with the Denali being slightly thirstier at 17.1 liters and 11.3 liters respectively.
Interior
The Terrain is are reasonably roomy for a compact crossover The base vehicle comes with manual adjustments and cloth seats while upgrades feature multi-way power adjustment with leather and ventilated seats. Plenty of in-car storage space is available for necessities such as the slot on the passenger side for safe keeping of cellphones. Folding the back seats stretches the cargo room from 29.6 cubic feet to 63.3 cubic which is much more than some of the competitors. Feel more luxury with features such as active noise cancellation and soft feel surfaces. The Denali offers an 8-inch diagonal GMC infotainment system with Navigation and expanded memory.
Safety
All Terrains come with Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, and parent programmable feature to limit teen-driver activity. The safety options are heavy and include blind spot monitors, lane departure alerts and forward collision warnings, and also standard on some models are the rear parking sensors. With the Denali, LED headlights are standard as is the Electronic Stability Control system and Tire Pressure monitoring system. A reasonable level of comfort and creativity is combined in the 2018 GMC Terrain to impress owners and operators. The fuel consumption is better than average for vehicles in the class and with all other available options, the Terrain will be liked for a long time.
