Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are two body-styles available with the GLC: an SUV and a coupe. You can also choose from three trim levels, namely the GLC 300, GLC 300 4Matic, and a plug-in hybrid model, the GLC 350e. If you want a coupe, it is only available in the GLC 300 4Matic trim. All trims boast the same features, and are mainly distinguished by their different powertrains.
The 2020 GLC sports a few minor design changes, including new LED head- and taillights, a restyled bumper, a slightly-altered grille, and newly-designed wheels. Standard equipment includes heated and power-folding mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a power liftgate, and 18-inch wheels. You can also opt for a variety of packages, such as the Exterior Lighting Package that features an LED intelligent light system and adaptive high-beam assist, and additional features like a hands-free liftgate and bigger wheels. Exterior colors include Brilliant Blue Metallic, Lunar Blue Metallic, Mojave Silver Metallic, and Obsidian Black Metallic.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine of the GLC is a 2.0-liter inline 4 that is paired to a nine-speed automatic to make 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This engine sends power to the rear wheels. If you want all-wheel drive, opt for the GLC 300 4Matic trim. With the GLC 350e comes a 2.0-liter inline 4 engine that is paired with a turbo 90 kW electric motor to produce a combined output of 315 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
If you're into off-roading, opt for the available Off-Road Engineering package, which is only available with the GLC 300 SUV. This package adds up to five off-road modes, namely Offroad, Incline, Slippery, Trailer, and Rock Free. These modes modify and optimize traction according to the road surface and also offer a hill descent control system and off-road suspension.
Interior
The cabin of the GLC, as can only be expected of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, is upscale, attractive, and fitted with the latest in tech features. The MBUX infotainment system, for instance, features cutting-edge technology, such as artificial intelligence that understands natural language and anticipates your needs. The system also features a 10.25-inch display, Bluetooth, HD radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Standard interior features include dual-zone automatic climate control, MB-Tex upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry, and power-adjustable front seats. You can also opt for available features like navigation, a Burmester surround-sound system, ambient lighting, a head-up display, tri-zone climate control, and wireless charging.
Safety Features
Apart from standard safety features like forward-collision warning with emergency braking and driver inattention warning, the GLC now also comes standard with the Driver Assistance package which offers adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist, a blind-spot monitor, an enhanced forward collision system, and a route-based speed adaptation system which automatically reduces the pre-set speed when taking curves.
