The Altima is Nissan's mid-size sedan that comes with a generous amount of space for its passengers and the option for all-wheel drive. It received a significant number of updates last year including a redesigned exterior and more tech features. For 2020, Nissan made more driver safety aids standard on the SR and an available option for the S. And, the Platinum now offers a memory function for the driver's side mirrors.

Trim Levels
There are five trim levels for the 2020 Altima. The base S has 16-inch steel wheels, active grille shutters, dual power outside mirrors, and automatic headlights. The SR adds 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and the option for heated outside mirrors with LED turn signal indicators. Bump up to the SV noise-reducing side window glass, LED fog lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The SL comes with a power-sliding glass moonroof, a chrome V-motion grille and chrome door handles, and it adds dual chrome exhaust finishers. The top-level Platinum model has 19-inch wheels and some interior upgrades.
Engine
The standard engine for the Altima is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that will get you 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. This combines nicely with a CVT and front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive offered as an option. There is an optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder available for drivers who want some extra power. This will deliver 248 horsepower to the SR or the Platinum trims, and it comes only with front-wheel drive.
Performance
The Altima is one of the more fuel-efficient sedans in its class with an EPA rating of 28 miles per gallon in the city and a 39 mpg rating for the highway if you have front-wheel drive. The newer turbo 4-cylinder has plenty of power and the improvements that Nissan made to the suspension make it feel composed and sporty when you drive over winding roads.
Interior
The Altima's cabin looks and feels upscale and it has some of the most comfortable seats you can find in a sedan. The dashboard has a sleek, straightforward design, and you can add extras such as ambient interior lighting and driver's seat memory settings. Heated front seats are an available option along with dual-zone climate control, and leather upholstery depending on the trim level.
Standard tech in the Altima now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and you also get an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth for phone and audio, and two USB ports. Stepping up to the SL will get you navigation, and an upgraded 9-speaker Bose stereo.
Safety Features
There is lots of standard safety equipment for the 2020 Altima. The base S comes standard with a front collision warning system and emergency braking. New safety additions for this model include the option for blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and a lane departure alert. The SR makes the S models optional safety equipment standard, and the SV adds the ProPilot Assist tech. This is an adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go along with lane keep assist technology to make driving that much smoother.
