2022 Toyota Tundra
If you like powerful engine performance and advanced technology, you're going to love the fully redesigned Tundra. It's Toyota's impressive full-size truck for the 2022 model year, and it's leaving the competition in the dust thanks to a quality interior and a composed ride. So, let's get to know this all-new model.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Toyota's executives released the 2022 edition with seven trims. There's the new Capstone trim, the TRD Pro, the 1794 Edition, the Platinum, the Limited, the SR5, and the entry-level SR. Before picking your trim, you need to choose your cab and bed lengths. If you want more cargo room, go with the Double Cab and pair it with either a standard 6-foot-6-inch bed or available 8-foot-1-inch long bed. The CrewMax models have a stock 6-foot-6-inch bed or an optional 5-foot-6-inch short bed. The new Tundra represents a substantial value in this competitive marketplace. There are plenty of upgrades that separate this new version from its previous generation. Toyota's designers completely restyled the 2022 model's exterior with loads of chrome and stunning available 22-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
Toyota revamped the Tundra's powertrain lineup for 2022. The company ditched its 5.7-liter, 381-horsepower V-8 and six-speed automatic transmission for the new 3.5-liter V-6. With its new twin-turbo under the hood, this truck puts out 389 ponies.
The optional hybrid powertrain on the Capstone edition combines the base engine with an electric motor to produce an impressive 437 horsepower. The new stock gearbox is a slick shifting 10-speed automatic that pairs well with both picks.
Performance
The big performance news for 2022 is the Tundra's towing and hauling capacities. Toyota increased its performance for the new model year. This new powerhouse can now pull a trailer weighing in at 12,000 pounds and haul a 1,940-pound payload. That's a boost of 1,800 and 210 pounds, respectively.
If you plan to spend your weekends exploring the wilderness, the TRD Pro variant is the choice for you. Toyota's engineers equipped it with a rugged off-road suspension, Fox shocks, and transfer case covers. You'll also appreciate gear like an off-road camera, crawl control, and a locking rear differential.
Interior
Check out the Tundra's elegant Limited trim if you're shopping around for a capable truck with a comfortable cabin. It comes standard with loads of desirable features you won't find in lower trims, like synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
If you're into tech, the Tundra SR5 offers an Advanced Technology package that features that adds a surround-view parking camera to the base system. You'll stay connected with an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and USB ports.
Safety Features
Every adventure needs some safety gear. Toyota added standard driver assistance features to every trim for the new model year, like a rearview camera, traffic sign recognition, lane tracing assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and forward-collision warning. Go ahead and add available tech like a head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
