It's Easier Here.

The number of websites claiming the Ford Bronco will be returning in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 is ridiculous. Most of the articles are just clickbait headlines, written on bad information, and they all lead back to one article written by the Detroit Free Press, where authors Alisa Priddle and Brent Snavely comment on Ford’s United Auto Workers Union (UAW) tentative worker agreement, saying:

“Here are the details of the Ford’s product plan during the life of the [$9 billion] contract:”

Michigan Assembly: $700 million investment with a new product to be added in 2018, expected to be the Ford Ranger, followed by the revival of the Ford Bronco SUV by 2020.”

Expected. The writers don’t cite any evidence to substantiate this claim, and in the actual UAW document (page 7), it says:

“New product to be added in 2018” and “Additional product planned no later than 2020”

Raining on parades

We’re not trying to be a buzzkill by pointing this out, we’re just trying to stop the madness. It’s like a bad game of telephone. Someone says expected (without much proof), and before long the 2020 Bronco is “officially confirmed.”

It’s not impossible

We’d like to be clear in saying that there’s currently no evidence to support the return of the Bronco – that doesn’t mean it wont happen. Ford has stated that they’ll be bringing more SUVs into their lineup, but when Jalopnik asked about the Ford Bronco, a Ford representative said:

“While Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history, there are no current plans for a new Bronco.”

So until some better evidence comes in, we have to try and keep the internet honest.

So help us quell the masses

People may think the Ford Bronco is coming back, but unless a story breaks tomorrow with a direct quote from Ford CEO Mark Fields, they’re wrong – and the evidence is on our side.
