The 2017 Maserati Ghibli comes in three trim levels: the base model, the S, and the S Q4. Up the trims, and the Ghibli gets progressively larger wheels, from 19-21 inches, and the higher two trims are available in all-wheel drive. The trims also have adjusted options for interior and exterior style. The most significant difference is the engine performance, which will likely be the primary factor in your decision to call Ghibli your own.

Stern but not presumptuous, the Ghibli looks just plain cool. While many cars attempt to draw attention with over-sharp features or other flashy concepts, this sedan shows the unmistakable charm of design masters. Bi-zenon headlamps are available on the base model, but are included standard on the S and S Q4.

Engine (Power)

There are two engine options for the 2017 Ghibli. The base model uses a 3.0-liter V6, the same seen in the 2017 Levante. This engine generates 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, or 404 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque in the Ghibli S and S Q4. The Ghibli gets up to 17/24 city/highway miles per gallon with the base model's powertrain.

Performance

The 2017 Maserati Ghibli is a responsive and secure car with plenty of power, but grows into a racing powerhouse with the S and S Q4. At its fastest configuration, it can zoom from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and the sport mode locks out on the eighth gear, ideal for keeping your speed. Shifting is fast and convenient for any driver, thanks to an eight-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting paddles at the steering wheel.

Interior

The latest Ghibli has 17.7 cubic feet of cargo space, nearly as much as the spacious Levante SUV. There are three seat styles: Comfort, Sport, and MY17 Ghibli Sport. Sport seats keep the driver alert and in the ideal position for high performance driving at all times, while the top-level MY17 sport seats add sharp styling and an optional stitched headrest. In all cases, Ghibli seats have ventilation included. Drivers who want a sporty look should opt for the Interior Carbon package, which adds suave dark accents throughout.

An optional luxury pack adds several active safety features and other enhancements, such as a 900-watt Harmon Kardon audio system, parking sensors, a power rear sunshade, and more. As for materials, Zenga Edition special leather seating is available on all models, but the base uses high-quality leather in the cabin, and higher trims add that same leather to the dash and seats.

Safety Features

The Ghibli uses the same safety features that are included in the rest of the 2017 Maserati lineup, such as emergency automatic braking. An optional driver assistance package comes with a new surround-view camera system, which uses multiple cameras to give a completed view of the area around the vehicle. The package also includes adaptive cruise control, a system that reads the speed, position, and behavior of the car ahead, allowing you to stay a set distance from it.
