Engine (Power)
<p>All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard powertrain on the base models is a 3.6-liter V6 that generates 305 horsepower with 269 pound-feet of torque. With the Sport, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trims, the engine is a 5.7-liter V8 that produces a whopping 395 horsepower with 410 pound-feet of torque.</p><p>The EcoDiesel is a turbo 3-liter V6 that cranks out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque for the HFE trim. For the Express, Sport, and Rebel, the EcoDiesel engine is optional.</p>
Performance
The EcoDiesel produces the best fuel efficiency. On the open road, this powertrain with two-wheel drive achieves 28 miles per gallon. Among the two non-diesel engines, the V6 has a slight edge, getting a combined fuel efficiency rating of 19 mpg. In third-party testing, the Ram 1500 demonstrated strong acceleration, exceptional ride quality, and a quiet cabin.
Interior
A standout among competitors, the Ram 1500 interior is well appointed with high-quality materials. This truck has two Uconnect infotainment systems available. A touch screen measuring either five or 8.4 inches is a responsive, intuitive gateway to the system's features. Voice commands, adjustable pedals, ample space, and keyless ignition are just some of the amenities that make the cabin comfortable.
Safety Features
Anti-lock brakes, air bags, trailer sway control, and hill-start assist are standard safety features. Additional safety measures such as a rearview camera and parking sensors are available. In third-party tests, the Ram 1500 demonstrated a braking distance that's on par with its competitors.
