Trim Levels
You can buy a 2017 Toyota Sequoia in one of three trim levels. The first is the SR5, and despite being the least expensive model, it comes with three-zone automatic climate control, a second row that slides and reclines independently for all three seats, and a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune Audio and a navigation app. The Limited is next, and it adds leather seats, a power liftgate, and 20-inch wheels. The third trim is the Platinum, which offers a 14-speaker premium JBL audio system, a standard Blu-ray player with a 9-inch display for the rear seats, and a standard seven-seat setup with two heated captain's chairs for the second row.
Engine
The 2017 Sequoia uses a 5.7-liter V8 engine that delivers 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. This power gives the Sequoia a 7,400-pound towing maximum, when you add the right equipment. You also get to choose between rear-wheel drive or Multi-Mode Four-Wheel Drive, which comes with a limited-slip center differential that locks the wheel rotation together to help you get out of mud and sand. You can also get a 4WD version with a flex-fuel engine, which means it accepts both gasoline and E85 fuel.
Performance
The 2017 Toyota Sequoia offers a surprisingly smooth ride considering its size and weight, and the engine is quiet despite being a muscular V8. The 7,400-pound towing limit means you can choose from all kinds of different trailers for all kinds of different trips. It can tow campers, boats, other vehicles, and even some industrial trailers for drivers who want both an SUV and a workhorse.
Interior
The interior is one of the ways the 2017 Sequoia really shines. As far as cargo space goes, it starts with 18.9 cubic feet behind the third row and goes up to 120.1 cubic feet when you fold all the seats down, which is enough space for moving furniture and building materials. You can also use that space to comfortably seat three rows of seven or eight adults, depending on your choice of either a bench or captain's chairs in the second row.
Safety
<style>sup { vertical-align: 0.5px; font-size: smaller;}</style>Toyota is a company that likes to go above and beyond when it comes to safety, which is why the 2017 Sequoia comes standard with eight air bags, Trailer-Sway Control, and the Toyota Star Safety System, which combines six electronic safety features into one cohesive whole. You can also pick up optional safety features such as a Blind Spot Monitor 1 and front and rear parking sonar, which warns you when you're getting too close to another vehicle.
