Trim Levels
The 2018 Prius comes in two flavors: the regular and the Prime. The regular Prius offers five trim levels: One, Two, Two Eco, Three, and Four, as well as Touring and other options. The Prime, on the other hand, is available in three trims: Plus, Premium, and Advanced. Besides these variations, the car also comes in the forms of the family-friendly Prius v and the compact Prius c. The new Prius differs from its predecessors in that it's far from plain-looking. You can expect it to stand out on the road with its futuristic lines and edges. Its front end looks sleek and bold with squinted headlights and a plunging hood with strong character lines. It's also larger, wider, and lower than ever before. Its lower hood-line doesn't only improve aerodynamics and fuel economy, but also enhances visibility for the driver. The Prius c and v feature simpler styling with larger headlights and grilles.
Engine
The new Toyota Prius is fitted with a 95-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that combine for 121 hp. This engine pairs with an automatic transmission to send power to the front wheels. While this powertrain is smooth and adequately powerful, its main highlight is its industry-leading fuel-efficiency ratings of 54/50 mpg (city/highway). The Eco model is even more frugal, getting an incredible 58/53 mpg. The Prius c combines an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a total output of 99 hp. The v, on the other hand, uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder and a high-torque electric motor to deliver 136 hp.
Performance
While it isn't a sports car, the 2018 Prius delivers a surprisingly sporty handling. Its great agility, smoothness, and precision ensure an enjoyable and comfortable driving experience in most situations. Its accurate steering and excellent body control enable it to remain poised around corners and on curvy roads. The Prius c is especially urban-friendly because its compact size allows for easy maneuvering in tight spaces and parking lots.
Interior
Inside, the 2018 Prius offers a satisfying blend of build quality, comfort, and technology. A low center console gives the front compartment an airy and roomy feel, while the rear seats provide ample headroom and legroom. Higher trims look more upscale with new synthetic leather. A 6.2-inch infotainment system is standard, while an upgraded 11.4-inch unit is available on the top two trims.
Safety Features
All 2018 Toyota Prius models are fitted with the Toyota Safety Sense-P system, which consists of forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and pedestrian detection. The higher trims add blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors.
