2019 Dodge Charger
Dodge reimagined the seventh generation Charger sedan for the 2019 lineup, and they've thrown in a few new design tweaks, updated trim levels, and feature availability. We have a first look at the new Charger. Keep reading to see what Dodge has to offer this upcoming year.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This American muscle car now encompasses six trims: SXT, GT, SXT AWD, R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat. With this variety of trim levels and available packages, there's plenty of opportunities to personalize your new Charger. The 2019 model's exterior sports a more aggressive hood design than in previous years and is available with a wide array of wheels starting with 17-inch silver aluminum on the SXT. 19 and 20-inch Black Noise wheels are available with certain options packages, such as the Blacktop package, but these are just a few of the many available choices. The top-of-the-line Hellcat and Scat Pack variants are outfitted with a new grille, feeding cold air directly into the engine compartment for maximum performance.
Engine (Power)
The Charger's available engine options run the gamut from the basic six-cylinder model to supercharged V-8 beasts. The base 292-horsepower, 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 offers 260 pound-feet of torque when paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive SXT's Pentastar gets a nice bump up to 300 horsepower, while the Charger R/T is even more brawny under the hood with its 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that puts out 370 horsepower. Moving up the trims, the Scat Pack's 6.4-liter V-8 delivers 485 horsepower for the smokiest burnouts ever. Don't stop there. The 2019 Charger Hellcat is waiting to hit the track with its roaring 717- and 797-horsepower variants. This new top-dog hits zero to 60 in a screaming 3.4 seconds and is capable of a 10.8-second quarter-mile.
Performance
When it comes to the Charger and performance, it's all about speed and what's lurking under the hood. For example, Dodge coaxed another 90 horsepower from the Hellcat's engine by adding in some available Demon parts. The Redeye Hellcat now flaunts the Demon's 2.7-liter supercharger, driving engine boost to 14.5 pounds-per-square-inch with twin, dual-stage fuel pumps. The air-conditioning-cooled SRT chiller system delivers cold air directly into the intake manifold for added performance at this trim level as well. All of the models come with rear-wheel drive, except the SXT AWD model which has all-wheel drive
Interior
The Charger's roomy interior is a comfortable place to spend your time on the road. Choose heavily bolstered performance seats upholstered in houndstooth cloth or a caramel Nappa leather. Add the cold weather package, and get the added luxury of a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. In all the trims, you can discover convenient features including remote start, cruise control, automatic halogen projector headlights, and three 12-volt power outlets. The GT trim's advanced 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system offers Dodge's performance pages software in a user-friendly, responsive touch screen.
Safety Features
The 2019 Charger comes standard with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. Available active safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, forward collision, and lane departure alerts, lane keep assist, and rear cross traffic warnings.
