2019 Ford Ranger
The return of the Ford Ranger represents Ford's re-entry to the competitive midsize pickup truck segment after an 8-year hiatus. While the truck was previously available in many other countries, the 2019 version is specially designed for the North American market. The new Ford Ranger provides the excellent work capabilities and reliability that made it one of the most iconic trucks of all time, while offering better handling and more safety features than its predecessors.
Trim Levels
The 2019 Ford Ranger will come in three different trim levels: the base XL, XLT, and the range-topping Lariat. There are also two body styles available: SuperCab and SuperCrew. Considerably smaller than the F-150, the Ranger features a traditional pickup styling. It looks macho with its upright stance, muscular body, and high belt line. You can dress it up with optional LED headlights and taillights, puddle lamps, and bed lighting. If you decide to get the FX Off-Road package, you will have a more aggressive-looking truck with off-road features such as skid plates and knobbier tires. The 2019 Ford Ranger will come in three different trim levels: the base XL, XLT, and the range-topping Lariat. Engine
All 2019 Ranger models are equipped with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford has yet to release horsepower and torque figures, but it says that the engine can rival the V-6 engines of other midsize trucks. Towing capacity is also unavailable, but Ford says the truck can tow campers, watercraft, and ATVs. The Ranger will come standard with rear-wheel drive, but it can be optionally fitted with a four-wheel drive system with low-range gearing.
Performance
The new Ford Ranger delivers a smooth and confident ride on paved roads, making it a better commuter vehicle than its predecessors. With its precise steering and responsive handling, it can perform well in most driving situations, from negotiating turns to maneuvering in tight spaces. In addition, the Ranger is a capable work truck and off roader, thanks to its high-strength steel frame and standard Dana locking rear differential. For better off-road performance, you can get the available electronic locking differential and the FX2 or FX4 Off-Road packages. The off-road packages come with off-road tuned suspension and shocks, off-road tires, terrain management system, and an advanced trail control system. Borrowed from the F-150 Raptor, the terrain management system controls several systems in the truck to suit different types of conditions, such as normal, grass, sand, mud, gravel, ruts, and snow.
Interior
Regardless of whether you choose the SuperCab or SuperCrew body style, the 2019 Ranger can seat up to five people. All models come with an 8-inch Sync 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. There is also the FordPass Connect system, which provides a 4G LTE connection to enable passengers to connect as many as 10 devices via Wi-Fi. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is available to provide a better audio experience.
Safety Features
The 2019 Ford Ranger surpasses many of its rivals in the safety department. It comes standard with forward collision alert and automatic emergency braking. More features are added at the higher trim levels, including blind spot monitors, lane departure alert, active lane control, rear parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision assistance.
