2022 Ford Bronco Sport
The Ford Bronco Sport might fit in the compact crossover market, but it's a capable adventurer that can take on rough terrain and make it look easy. It's a smaller version of the full-size Bronco, with a strong turbo engine and a versatile cabin. The 2022 model is the second year for the Bronco Sport, and it carries over with just a few changes. The First Edition model is no longer part of the lineup, and there's some shuffling of features between models.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Base Bronco Sport starts the lineup with 17-inch wheels, roof rails, LED headlights, and it has a rear liftgate with a flip-up window. Step up to the Big Bend for heated side exterior mirrors, tinted rear windows, and keyless entry. An optional Convenience Package adds LED fog lights to the Big Bend, or you can step up to the Outer Banks where the LED fog lights come standard. This trim also adds 18-inch wheels and heated windshield wipers. The top-level Badlands is the most off-road capable. It has skid plates, front tow hooks, an off-road suspension, and all-terrain tires.
Engine (Power)
Power for the first three trims comes from a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine that puts out 181 horsepower and generates 190 pound-feet of torque. If you choose the Badlands, it has a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 250 horsepower. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and every trim comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
The Bronco Sport has the perfect balance of on-road manners and off-road capabilities. It will provide a smooth ride on paved roads and highways, but it's up for adventure when you take it off the beaten path. It has Ford's G.O.A.T modes to make off-roading a breeze.
Interior
Inside, there's room for five in a cabin with a rugged look and comfortable features. Stepping up from the base to the Big Bend gets you automatic climate control, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, a rubber cargo floor, and a fold-down center armrest. The Convenience Package adds heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat, and the Outer Banks upgrades the leather upholstery and makes the heated front seats standard.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Bronco Sport comes standard with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver aids. It includes front collision mitigation, automatic braking, lane-keep assist, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-path alert. It also comes with automatic high beam headlights. The optional Premium Package for the Badlands adds rear parking sensors, and you can also add Co-Pilot Assist+ for any trim except the base. This package comes with adaptive cruise control, an evasive steering assist system, and lane-keep assist.
