Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Mercedes Benz E-Class comes in four trim levels: E 350, E 450, AMG E 53, and AMG E 63 S. The E 450 and MG E 53 trims are available for the coupe, while E 450 and AMG E 53 trims are available for the wagon and convertible. More than a half-dozen wheel options are available, in either 18- or 19-inch sizes. A body-colored or black rear spoiler, panoramic roof, and LED logo projectors (activated when the front doors are opened at night) are also available separately.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Mercedes Benz E 350 I is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque is available on the E 450 trim. A special six-cylinder engine for the E 450 returns, delivering 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. The AMG E 63 S is equipped with a 4.0-liter V-8 engine with 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The 2022 E-Class is all about comfort, and its ride is surprisingly smooth on just about any road surface. This Mercedes has respectable handling and well-controlled body movements through corners, making for a refined but welcoming experience. The standard E 350 takes an estimated six seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, the E 450 does it in 4.9 seconds, and the AMG E 53 accelerates to 60 mph in only 4.4 seconds. The AMG E 63 S reportedly reaches 60 in an astounding 3.3 seconds.
Interior
Nappa leather seating surfaces, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, a power rear sunshade, wireless smartphone charging, two USB-C ports for the rear seat, combination wood and leather steering wheel, and about six different wood trim options are among the E-Class's highlights. Other trims take it a step further, such as the AMG E53 offering red seatbelts, soft-close doors, and a cabin air purifier.
The standard features are plentiful, and Mercedes has given the technology touches a significant lift for 2022. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD radio, Bluetooth, and a pair of front USB connections are all included. Along with the infotainment screen, the driver is provided with a 12.3-inch digital gauge display. Drivers get up to 35 cubic feet of cargo space in wagon bodies, whereas convertibles get 9.5, coupes get 10, and sedans get 13.1.
Safety Features
For 2022, the Mercedes Benz E-Class is equipped with driver assistance features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, driver attention warning, and rain-sensing wipers across every trim.
