2017 Honda Ridgeline

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline

Can you say, number one in its class? The new Honda Ridgeline is 4500 lbs. of trucking greatness, and people are slowly taking notice – at least, they should be taking notice.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline

When we say this truck is going to change how other companies build trucks in the future, we’re not kidding. Honda has come up with so many great features that you won’t find in any other trucks on the market. Really, it surpasses other trucks in almost every category.

Under the hood

The engine is a 3.5L V-6, that has a towing capacity of up to 5000 lbs. with the Ridgeline’s optional all-wheel drive. It gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway while producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Car and Driver reports that the Honda Ridgeline’s six-speed transmission “is consistently swift and seamless.”

Bed time

Spending multiple paragraphs on a truck bed might sound a bit little flat, but we feel it’s warranted. The Honda Ridgeline’s truck bed is just so cool. It features an in-bed trunk, so you can still clutter up your vehicle without people noticing, and a two-way tailgate system that can either fold down or swing out.

Why would you ever want a tailgate to swing out? So you can reach what’s in it without having to jump into the truck bed. Usually, the tailgate makes it difficult to reach into the truck bed, but Honda has come up with a smart solution to this problem.

The bed also features an audio system that vibrates the truck bed itself, turning it into one big speaker. If you add that to the in-bed trunk that can double as a cooler and the 400-watt power inverter that’ll easily run a flat screen TV, you’ve got the best tailgating truck money can buy.

So give it a chance

If you’re in the market for a new truck, you’d be robbing yourself by not checking out the Ridgeline. Mark our words, in 5 years you won’t be able to find a truck without an in-bed trunk, a swinging tailgate, or an in-bed audio system. Except, for the 2017 Ridgeline, you won’t have to wait 5 years – just until Fall 2016.
