5 Things to do in Raleigh This Weekend (May 27th – 29th)

Raleigh is a city full of awesome events, delicious food, and a few great places to get a cocktail. Our list will help you off the couch and out of the house this weekend to do some socializing around the Oak City.

1. Best of North Carolina 2016

“The Best of North Carolina” is an annual art exhibit put on by long-time art historian and North Carolina native, Charlene Newsom. Located at Gallery C on 540 N Blount St, the art exhibit will display some of North Carolina’s finest mid-20^th century art. Click here for more information.

2. Downtown Raleigh Walking Food Tour

If you’ve never experienced the Downtown Raleigh Walking Food Tour, this Saturday (and pretty much every following Saturday) is your chance. For $45, you will walk and ride the R-Line around the city of Raleigh with your tour-guide, tasting the cuisine (and refreshments) of numerous local establishments. Click here for more information.

3. Just want to get a drink?

Check out The Architect Bar & Social House. Raleighmag.com named them the best place to get a drink in Raleigh and by the look of their menu, they weren’t lying. Does a hidden speak-easy style cocktail bar sound better to you? Check out The Green Light. If you can find it, that is.

4. Live Music and Great Food

If you’re looking for a reliable date-spot with the added bonus of live music, check out Irregardless Café & Catering. Most Raleigh-natives have been to Irregardless, and most of them would recommend it. This weekend you can hear Daniel Stanislawek, a guitarist who plays jazz, classic, Latin, and traditional styles on Saturday; and Emily Musolino, a singer-songstress, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Durham, North Carolina on Sunday.

5. Beyond Bollywood Smithsonian Event

This Sunday (May 29^th) the City of Raleigh Museum will open its door to its first Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit. Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation is an exhibit dedicated to exploring the lives, struggles, and contributions of Indian Americans in America. The City of Raleigh Museum Director, Ernest Dollar says: “It’s a great opportunity to tell the story of our rapidly growing Indian community through exploring Indian American’s impact on American history.” Click here for more information.
