tires aligned

Before you start yawning, hear us out. You’ve got to make sure your tires are in alignment. Think of it like this: your tires are like shoes for your car, and we all know how it feels to walk around in uncomfortable shoes all day; It’s not good for your feet, and bad tires are not good for your car.

What is tire alignment?

Tire alignment comes in three different angles: camber, toe and caster.

We could go into a long explanation of all three angles, but this infographic does it best. Thanks to speedwaymotors.com

Why is tire alignment important? Here are two critical reasons

The first, and most important reason, is safety. Misaligned tires can damage the joints, bearings, and bushings that make up your vehicle’s suspension and steering – components you do not want to fail while driving.

The second most important reason to have your tires aligned is to increase the longevity of your car and tires. If the alignment is off, you’ll wear your tires down unnecessarily quick, and force your car’s engine to work harder to power it.

Here’s a simple car alignment test

Pull into a open area, like an empty parking lot, and turn your wheel straight. Then, accelerate to about 10mph and let go of the wheel. If the car pulls left or right, you need an alignment.

Another tell-tale sign that you need an alignment is vibration. If you are driving down the highway, and your steering wheel is moving in your hands, or you’re feeling a lot of vibration, you need an alignment.
