Does it upset us when people modify their smart cars? Absolutely not. We love when people use their smarts to create cool projects. That’s why the three smart cars below make us so happy.
1. Vert’s smart car food truck
This smart car food truck based out of Austin, Texas is a “Berlin-inspired kebap” that sells shaved-meat sandwiches. Although, this smart car is different from most food trucks because it’s not equipped to actually cook food. Instead, the food is cooked at Verts, and then sold on the street from the smart car.
The smart cars’ low cost and efficiency make it perfect for delivering food. It can hold supplies for up to 50 sandwiches per run, and park just about anywhere to serve hungry patrons. Take that food trucks.
2. Canadian snowmobile smart car
Canadian mechanic, Todd Anderson took one look at a smart car and knew it would make a perfect snow mobile. He replaced the front wheels with skis, the back wheels with snow tracks, and voila. Another smart car melts away our expectations.
The smart car is capable of handling heavy snow, and in total cost about $7000 to create (not including the cost of the car). Anderson did most of the work himself at Autobahn Tuning Inc.
3. 1500hp jet engine smart car
This fire-breathing creation is absolutely stunning. A few people have swapped powerful engines into their smarts, but nothing compares to this jet engine. The owner of the car, Mike West, says that the engine came straight out of an army-grade helicopter, and that their smart is the “world’s fastest.”
