It's Easier Here.

Leith Cars Blog

Jeep has been quiet lately – too quiet. It’s been two years since they unveiled the Jeep Renegade at the Geneva Auto Show, and we haven’t heard much since. For that reason, we decided to dig around and find out what they’ve been up to, and what they’re planning.

Here’s what we found

We’ve uncovered an FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) investor presentation given by Jeep CEO, Mark Manley (what a name) in 2014. In that presentation, we found Jeep’s “Proactive Lifecycle Management” chart.

As you can see, Jeep is planning to release a new model in the second quarter of 2016. This model will be part of the C SUV (compact SUV) segment, which is currently home to the Patriot and Compass – two models nearing the end of their production.

Another interesting side-note is the chart’s D and E section. The D section clearly shows that Jeep plans to release a brand new Wrangler in 2017, and the E section confirms the Grand Wagoneer for 2018. Here’s to hoping it comes with wood paneling.

Looking forward

Assuming they’re on schedule, we’re thinking Jeep will roll out their new compact SUV at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Here’s why:

First, NYIAS is going to take place in the second quarter of 2016. Second, the only other North American auto show is scheduled for November (Los Angeles Auto Show), and being the most patriotic brand in America, we think Jeep is going to release their new model state-side. In addition, Jeep and Ram have reserved one of the largest rooms at NYIAS, as you can see below.

Our wish

If we had it our way, Jeep would release their new compact SUV this month at NYIAS, and then tease the Wrangler or the Grand Wagoneer at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. We think the new Wrangler is more likely, though.

Keep an eye on the blog for any updates, and get excited for all the new releases coming up at the New York International Auto Show!
