The world of car-configuration is hit or miss. Sometimes you get to configure every option imaginable; other times “customization” means you get to pick the colors. Luckily for us, the Porsche 718 Cayman configurator is a hit.

To start, we finished our Porsche Cayman with an Agate Grey Metallic paint job. Sure, grey is a little boring, but wait until you see it with the Mahogany and Luxor Beige interior – Good grief! Inside, we opted for the 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, which allow for adjustments in – you guessed it – 18 ways. These seats are like a spa treatment for your lumbar, even when the Cayman’s launch tries to slip a disc in your back.

Speaking of launch, let’s get to the nuts and bolts of this operation. We decided to pair the 300 horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual transmission. Then, we added every performance package possible, because that’s what you buy a Porsche for. We passed on all the interior technology, apart from the seat heaters/ventilators. Our Porsche has one purpose, and it’s not lollygagging. All that adaptive cruise control, extra climate control, and lane change assist is just extra weight.

And in that same spirit, we left the infotainment, navigation, and audio systems out of our Porsche 718. They’re not essential, and the only music we’ll need is the sound of that four-cylinder turbo. In the end, our Porsche 718 Cayman started at $53,900 came out at $89,115.
