For this week’s edition of Real People Matter, we travel back in time to a few months ago at Leith Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Wendell.
One of our customers, Peter N., visited us out of what he called desperation. Peter is a proud Jeep owner and he noticed uneven wearing on his tires, occurring much faster than they should have. Two local shops told him his alignment was fine. They said that short tire life was “just part of owning a Jeep.” Peter knew better, though, which is why he came to us.
When he walked into our service department, a service advisor met with Peter to discuss the issues he was having, and then asked him to take a seat in our waiting area while his Jeep was taken care of. According to Peter, one of his biggest pet peeves is checking in and watching his car sit in the parking lot, but he said that by the time he sat down, his Jeep had already been moved into the service area.
What happened next is where Leith really makes good on the dealership difference. The service advisor invited Peter back into the service area. He followed, expecting the same-old rigmarole he had gotten everywhere else, along with mention of extra fees. Instead, the service technician who had been tending his Jeep showed him a brake pad that had been installed properly. Peter had his brakes repaired only a week before at another shop, and if our staff hadn’t found the mistake during our multi-point inspection, he could have experienced some catastrophic brake failure.
By the end of his visit, Peter’s brakes were fixed and his alignment problem solved, and all in less time than he had initially been quoted. Of his experience, Peter said, “The costs were much less than I anticipated. The drive from Raleigh was not as bad as I thought it would be. The staff was friendly and efficient.
