Tesla Model 3

Late last week, preorders began for Tesla’s Model 3, a $35,000 electric sedan that will go on sale in 2017 (or so they say). Yesterday, Elon Musk announced that 276,000 people had forked over $1000 to secure their Model 3s, totaling $276 million straight into Tesla’s pockets. Which is baffling.

People believed in Tesla so much, they were willing to throw money at a car they hadn’t even seen yet. We were surprised until the Model 3 debuted, then we were on board. It’s beautiful, and if it drives anything like the Model X or the Model P, it’s going to be a hit.

Aesthetically, the Model 3 is bold. Its design features a massive piece of glass that covers the entire roof, windshield, and rear windshield, as well as a grille-less front end.

The huge windshield is a feature that we’ve never seen on any vehicle, and it looks fantastic. Our only worry is that the Tesla Model 3 will be hard to keep cool (temperature). We can only imagine the heat a parked Model 3 with black leather seats could accumulate on a hot August day.

But if it does get too hot, just roll the windows down and step on the gas (electric).  Musk has said in the past: “We don’t make slow cars,” and according to Tesla, the Model 3 will go from 0-60mph in less than six seconds.

The Model 3 will also have a range of at least 215 miles on a full charge, but there’s speculation that there will be models that push this range further. Tesla also continues to expand their Supercharger network across the country, here’s a map of it:

We’ll keep you posted on any new information about the Model 3, but it might be a long time. Either way, we’ll be excited to hear information about the Model 3 as it’s released to the public, and we’ll be sure to share it with you as soon as we hear it.
