If you just returned from a years’ long sojourn through the Siberian tundra, the Kia Optima will be completely unrecognizable. The Korean automaker spent considerable time and money to, as some have modestly describe it, “facelift” the brand – we see it as an incredibly successful overhaul. While the entire lineup benefitted, the Optima has established itself as Kia’s keystone model.

The 2014 Kia Optima comes in five trims: the LX, EX, and SX have similar powertrains but differ in their options and features; the SX Turbo and Limited offer greater luxury and more than 80 horsepower above the other trims. Kia’s culture, however, promotes the idea of providing more as standard features as opposed to exclusivity seen with other automakers. That is why every trim has the Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing for seamless transitions among gears.

Other companies attempt to make equipment like power locks, Bluetooth capability, and Eco drive sound novel. Every trim level of the Optima comes installed with these technologies – among others.
